QUETTA: The protest camp set up by Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) against enforced disappearances has completed 6,104 days outside the Quetta Press Club under the leadership of the organization’s chairman, Nasrullah Baloch.
On the occasion, individuals from different walks of life visited the protest camp and expressed solidarity with the families of missing persons.
Speaking at the camp, Nasrullah Baloch said that enforced disappearances are an extrajudicial act and a serious violation of citizens’ fundamental rights. He stated that thousands of Baloch have been forcibly disappeared in Balochistan, forcing thousands of families to live in severe distress and suffering.
He further said that the state should treat the families of missing persons in accordance with the country’s laws. If any individual is taken into custody by state institutions, he should be presented before a magistrate within 24 hours.
Nasrullah Baloch demanded an immediate end to enforced disappearances and the extrajudicial killing of missing Baloch individuals. He also called for the recovery of all missing persons and urged authorities to take practical steps under the law to resolve what he described as a serious humanitarian issue.
