PARIS: Dr Naseem Baloch, chairman of the Baloch National Movement, has strongly condemned the recent raid on the residence of human rights activist Syed Bibi Baloch in Turbat, calling it a continuation of harassment against peaceful activists in Balochistan.
In a statement shared on the social media platform X, Dr Naseem Baloch described the raid as “highly condemnable” and highlighted that it reflects systematic targeting of human rights defenders in Balochistan.
He noted that Syed Bibi Baloch, who is affiliated with the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), has already been placed on Pakistan’s Fourth Schedule, which subjects individuals to strict monitoring and restrictions. Despite this, she has regularly complied with reporting requirements and has consistently appeared before authorities as instructed.
Dr Naseem Baloch said that, instead of acknowledging her cooperation, Pakistani security forces continue to intimidate and harass her and her family members, including disturbing household items during late-night raids.
He further called for international attention, urging the United Nations and other human rights organizations to intervene and address the situation. He emphasized that such tactics should be condemned and that the harassment of Syed Bibi Baloch and other peaceful activists must stop immediately.
