Baloch Students Targeted for Years Through Harassment and Enforced Disappearances: Says Dr. Sabiha Baloch

Islamabad: Dr. Sabiha Baloch, a central leader of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee, has stated that Baloch students have been subjected to years of harassment and enforced disappearances, raising serious concerns about their safety and fundamental rights.

In a statement shared on social media platform X, Dr. Sabiha Baloch said that Baloch students have long faced harassment, racial profiling, arbitrary actions, intimidation and enforced disappearances. She described the situation as a persistent pattern that has created fear within academic institutions and among young scholars.

Referring to the recent case of Nabeel Arman, she said he had been consistently raising his voice for fellow student Danial Baloch, who was reportedly abducted a week earlier. According to her statement, Nabeel has now himself become a victim of enforced disappearance.

Dr. Baloch termed this development a “deeply troubling trend,” arguing that those who peacefully advocate for accountability are increasingly being targeted. She warned that such actions undermine the fundamental rights to education, freedom of expression, and personal security.

She further emphasized that targeting students and members of the intelligentsia does not only harm individuals but also weakens the broader social, intellectual, and professional foundations of the community.

“When young scholars, activists, and emerging professionals are silenced through coercive measures, the consequences extend beyond the present moment,” she wrote, adding that such practices disrupt both civic space and the future leadership and development of the region.

Dr. Sabiha Baloch called for the protection of students and the safeguarding of academic spaces, stating that silence in the face of such violations only perpetuates impunity.
