GWADAR: Transporters have staged a sit-in on the Makran Coastal Highway, suspending traffic and blocking all routes, according to union representatives.
The protest was organized by the Sindh-Balochistan Transporters Union, whose leaders said the demonstration was being held against what they described as inappropriate treatment by Pakistani security forces along the coastal highway. They stated that the strike and wheel-jam protest would continue until their demands are met.
According to the transporters, every bus passing through the Hingol check post is stopped and subjected to lengthy searches, sometimes lasting several hours. They claimed that despite repeated checks, no illegal items have been recovered from any bus so far.
They further said that prolonged inspections are causing severe inconvenience and delays for passengers, while also negatively impacting the transport business.
Due to the sit-in, passengers and freight vehicles are facing difficulties. As of now, no official response has been issued by the authorities.
