QUETTA: The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) has claimed that Ayaz Ahmed, a victim of enforced disappearance, was extrajudicially killed while in custody of Pakistan’s security forces. The statement was shared by the organization on the social media platform X.

According to BYC, Ayaz Ahmed son of Dost Muhammad, a school teacher and resident of Sundom Gishkor, was forcibly disappeared on 16 October 2025 from Gishkor Bazaar. The group stated that eyewitnesses and local sources had confirmed that he was taken into custody by Pakistani security forces.

BYC said that for months, Ayaz Ahmed’s family searched for him and repeatedly attempted to obtain information about his whereabouts, but no official response was provided. On 6 January 2026, his body was reportedly recovered, which the group says confirmed that he had been killed while in state custody.

In its statement, the BYC termed the incident part of a “systematic pattern” of enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings in Balochistan. The organization stated that civilians, including teachers and students, continue to face targeting, torture, and custodial killings.

The group further said that the killing of Ayaz Ahmed represents a broader policy aimed at instilling fear and silencing dissent in Balochistan. It called on the international community to intervene, ensure accountability, and take action to prevent further abuses.
