Quetta: The National Democratic Party (NDP) has expressed deep concern over the enforced disappearance of its Deputy Organizer, Salman Baloch, describing it as yet another attempt to suppress democratic and political voices in Balochistan.

According to an official statement, Salman Baloch was forcibly disappeared from his room at Bolan Plaza in Quetta at around 3 a.m. last night. Two others who were present with him Dileep Das and Sahir Baloch were also taken away by unidentified personnel. The statement added that the room was left ransacked, with books, personal belongings and documents scattered across the floor.

The NDP said that the abduction of conscious and politically active individuals like Salman Baloch amounts to criminalizing political thought. “Such acts are not only a blatant violation of constitutional and human rights but also pose a grave threat to democratic institutions and the principles of justice. When citizens are denied their right to a fair trial, the entire justice system loses its meaning,” the party stated.

The statement further noted that Salman Baloch’s disappearance is not an isolated incident, but part of a continuing pattern of state repression targeting NDP members and other Baloch political activists. The party reminded that two central committee members Ghani Baloch and Sana Baloch Khetran remain missing, while several others including Zahid Baloch from Karachi Zone and Salal and Mir Baloch from Barkahan Zone have not been recovered yet.

NDP highlighted that the inclusion of the party’s Central Organizer, Advocate Shahzaib Baloch, in the Fourth Schedule and now the abduction of its Deputy Organizer clearly indicate a systematic attempt to silence its organized political struggle. “These are not actions against individuals but against political thought, organizational work and democratic activism itself,” the statement read.

The party said that continued repression and enforced disappearances are shrinking the space for peaceful political activity in Balochistan, pushing the region toward hopelessness.

NDP demanded the immediate recovery and safe release of Salman Baloch and all other missing persons, stressing that if legal and constitutional mechanisms exist, no citizen should be abducted extrajudicially. “Such actions are unconstitutional, unjust, and inhumane, violating the dignity of human life and the essence of justice,” it added.

The party called upon the state institutions to end this unlawful practice, bring all cases of enforced disappearances within the purview of law and judiciary, and ensure fair trial and legal access for all political workers as their fundamental right.
