Quetta: Central leader of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), Sammi Deen Baloch, has said that for the past six months, the committee’s leaders Dr. Mahrang Baloch, Babgar Baloch, Shah Ji Baloch, Beebow Baloch and Gulzadi Baloch, have been held in illegal detention.
She stated that initially, laws such as the Three MPO (Maintenance of Public Order) were unlawfully used against them. Later, politically motivated FIRs were filed and their remand was repeatedly extended without any formal reports being presented. Now, even after being judicially processed, their upcoming hearings are being deliberately delayed. Moreover, it has been decided, without any legal justification that their future court appearances will take place inside the jail rather than in open court.
Sammi Deen Baloch said this move is part of a broader strategy to suppress public voices. The government, she claimed, is afraid of the growing public support for these leaders. Despite their imprisonment, the authorities could not stop people from showing solidarity with them during court hearings and now a new tactic has been adopted, shifting the proceedings to jail without any legal grounds.
She added that the Baloch Yakjehti Committee considers this action illegal and oppressive. In response, the committee has launched a three-day online protest campaign against this move, urging the public to take part, register their protest, and raise their voices against the system of oppression.
