KECH: The Baloch Liberation Front (BLF) said on Sunday that its militants killed a military informer identified as Muslim, son of Nematullah, following confessions that linked him to multiple killings and enforced disappearances in the region.
Major Gehram Baloch, the BLF’s spokesperson, told the media in a statement that the group captured Muslim from Goberd on October 5. According to the spokesman, the suspect confessed during interrogation to acting as an informer and assisting in the murders of several Baloch youths in Mand and Gomazi.
The statement named several victims, including Sana son of Shaukat, Izhar son of Mujeeb, and Mulla Bahram in Mand, and Jalal son of Haji Yar Muhammad and Hamal son of Wahid Bakhsh in Gomazi. Major Gehram Baloch said the suspect admitted involvement in the July 13 killing in the Josk area of Turbat and in other targeted attacks, claiming the operations were carried out on information he provided to security forces and local gunmen.
The BLF further said that the informer received payments, amounts ranging from 10,000 to 50,000 rupees, for providing intelligence and facilitating the killings. The spokesperson also named a key death-squad operative identified as Saghir, also known as Bilal, as an intermediary who assigned some of the tasks. BLF said Bilal had surrendered to authorities several years earlier.
Citing confessions and documentary evidence, the BLF said its fighters shot and killed Muslim on October 9. The group also said that during a separate exchange of fire the same night in the Khadan area of Dasht, one alleged death-squad operative, Mahboob son of Babu, was killed and another was wounded.
“The group named has been involved in extortion of oil-transport vehicles, targeted killings, and drug-related crime,” Major Gehram Baloch’s statement said, according to the BLF. He added that the organization accepts responsibility for the two killings and claimed it holds details on other operatives linked to the actions.
