The mutilated body discovered in the Ferozabad area of Khuzdar district, Balochistan, has been identified as Mohammad Ramzan, son of Haji Ahmad Dostenzai. He was forcibly disappeared by Pakistani forces on August 14, 2014. After eleven years of enforced disappearance, his body was handed over to his family four days after identification.
This is not the first case of extrajudicial killing and enforced disappearance in Balochistan. Thousands of Baloch individuals have been killed during custody after being forcibly disappeared in the past.
Meanwhile, reports have emerged of the enforced disappearance of another Baloch student from Karachi. According to sources, Shah Nawaz, a graduate of Uthal University, was taken into custody and forcibly disappeared by Pakistani security forces and intelligence personnel at around 4 a.m. on the night between April 29 and 30 from his home in Karachi.
Shah Nawaz is a resident of Minaz, Buleda, in Kech district, Balochistan, and was living in Karachi to seek medical treatment for his family members. His family has expressed deep concern over his enforced disappearance, calling it a grave violation of human rights and demanding his immediate release.
