The protest camp of the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) has now reached its 5782nd day, continuing its demand for the recovery of forcibly disappeared individuals and justice for victims of extrajudicial killings.
As in previous years, VBMP held a protest demonstration on Eid. Balochistan National Party leader Manzoor Raees and social activist Kambar Baloch visited the camp to express solidarity with the families of the forcibly missing persons.
Speaking to delegations, Mama Qadeer Baloch condemned the renewed wave of enforced disappearances, where prominent political and social figures are once again being targeted. He highlighted the arrest of senior political activist Zaheer Baloch on Eid under the controversial 16 MPO law, despite his age and deteriorating health. “Zaheer Baloch is a veteran activist who deserves immediate release. I appeal for fair treatment and demand that, instead of unjust detention, he be allowed to face any allegations in court with dignity.”
Mama Qadeer further emphasized the worsening human rights crisis in Balochistan, which is fueling political and social unrest. He reaffirmed that Akhtar Mengal’s long march demands are legitimate, calling for the immediate release of political prisoners and their right to protest peacefully in Shaal. “Political parties must be allowed to hold gatherings, rallies, and sit-ins to voice their demands. Instead of silencing them, the state should listen to the people’s grievances.”
