Quetta (Press Release) ; The spokesperson of the Baloch Doctors Forum has stated in a released statement that the ongoing enforced disappearances and harassment of Baloch doctors in Balochistan have become unbearable. Last night, Dr. Sanaullah Baloch, a teacher at Makran Medical College, and Dr. Aftab Baloch, a final-year student, were forcibly arrested from their home in an illegal and unconstitutional manner. The Baloch Doctors Forum strongly condemns this act.
They said that, This is not the first incident. Individuals with a Baloch identity, especially those from the educated class, are consistently being targeted by state oppression. Dr. Mahrang Baloch is already imprisoned. Naveed Baloch, a first-year MBBS student at Swabi Medical College, was forcibly disappeared on March 25. Now, another Baloch doctor and teacher from Makran Medical College, Dr. Sanaullah, has been unlawfully arrested along with his family members. During last night’s raid, not only were mobile phones confiscated, but women and children were also mistreated, which is an inhumane and cruel act.
The spokesperson further stated that state institutions, through their policies, are worsening the situation in Balochistan. The violation of the fundamental human rights of the Baloch people has become a daily occurrence, which is extremely concerning and condemnable.
The spokesperson of the Baloch Doctors Forum demanded:
- The immediate release of Dr. Mahrang Baloch, Dr. Sanaullah Baloch, Dr. Aftab Baloch, Naveed Baloch and all other forcibly arrested and missing persons.
- An end to the harassment of Baloch doctors and other professionals.
