77 Years of Pakistani Occupation of Balochistan .BNM Protest and Rally in Germany

The Baloch National Movement (BNM) organized a protest demonstration and rally in Hanover, Germany, marking the completion of 77 years since Pakistan’s occupation of Balochistan. BNM activists highlighted the current situation in Balochistan and raised awareness through placards and slogans. They condemned the arrests of Mahrang, Bebarg, Beebow, and other arrested leaders, demanding their release.

Speeches at the protest were delivered by Sharahsan, Nadeem Saleem, Sadiq Saeed, and Rahman Baloch.

The speakers emphasized that Balochistan is an occupied country, which Pakistan forcefully occupied on March 27, 1948, through power and deceit. Since then, the Baloch nation has been subjected to continuous atrocities. However, the Baloch nation refuses to accept this forced occupation and will continue its resistance for freedom.

They strongly condemned the recent state oppression in Shal, enforced disappearances, and the firing by Pakistani forces on March 22 during a sit-in on Saryab Road for the recovery of the forcibly disappeared individuals. In this attack, three people were martyred, and dozens were injured, while state forces obstructed the wounded from being taken to hospitals and damaged public property. The speakers described this as a severe example of state terrorism.

Discussing the history of Balochistan, the speakers said that the struggle for freedom began in 1839 with the British invasion and the martyrdom of Khan Baloch Mehrab Khan. On August 11, 1947, Britain declared Balochistan’s independence, but Pakistan attempted to occupy it through diplomatic pressure and conspiracies. In December 1947, Balochistan’s parliament overwhelmingly rejected joining Pakistan, insisting on maintaining its independence. However, on March 27, 1948, Pakistan launched a military invasion and occupied Balochistan.

The speakers noted that the Baloch people observe March 27 as “Black Day” and continue their resistance for freedom. They called on the international community to raise its voice against Pakistani oppression and support the struggle for Balochistan’s independence.
