Karachi Police Defies Court Orders, Rearrests Sammi Deen, BYC Warns of Strong Reaction. Press Conference

Karachi: The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) has strongly condemned the police crackdown on Baloch women in Karachi, calling it a blatant display of state oppression. The BYC expressed outrage over the police brutality during a peaceful protest, where Baloch women were reportedly dragged, their scarves removed, and they were unlawfully arrested.

Sammi Deen, one of the arrested activists, was granted bail today, but as she exited the court premises, Karachi police attempted to rearrest her. Lawyers resisted the illegal action for several hours, but the police, defying court orders, brought reinforcements and took her into custody again.

“This is outright lawlessness,” the BYC stated. “The state institutions are openly targeting Baloch women through unconstitutional means, violating human rights and due process.”

The Baloch Yakjehti Committee, has warned of a severe response if Sammi Deen is not released immediately. It held the government, Sindh police, and state institutions responsible for any further escalation.

The BYC has called on Karachi’s citizens, the legal community, human rights groups and political activists to raise their voices against the police’s unlawful actions.

The committee has put forward the following demands:

  • Immediate release of Sammi Deen Baloch.
  • An end to state repression against Baloch political activists.
  • Legal accountability for police officials violating court orders.
  • International human rights organizations to intervene and ensure the safety of Baloch women.

“The humiliation of Baloch women is an attack on the entire Baloch nation. We will not tolerate this injustice,” the BYC declared.
