The central spokesperson of the Baloch Students Organization (BSO) stated in a press release that the region of Balochistan has been the target of state repression and exploitation for decades, where every aspect of life is severely impacted by injustice and oppression. Similarly, the education system is also in a state of decline, with higher educational institutions across Balochistan suffering from militarization, harassment, dilapidated infrastructures, unnecessary closures of universities and restrictions on political activities. These education and student-unfriendly policies are viewed as a colonial conspiracy to sabotage students’ creative abilities. The BSO demands the immediate restoration of academic activities and the establishment of a modern education system across the educational institutions in Balochistan.
The spokesperson also condemned the implementation of online classes in the University of Balochistan and other institutions, citing unknown reasons behind this move. They argued that students are being deliberately isolated from collective participation, debate and political engagement, pushing them towards further subjugation. This undermines their creativity, realism and political awareness.
Similarly, students at the Lasbela University in Uthal are being punished for engaging in conscious actions such as setting up book stalls and academic activities at the University of Turbat are being disrupted under various pretexts, leading to mental distress among the students. The destruction of educational institutions and conscious learning spaces is being carried out under a well-planned strategy. Students continue to protest against the ineffective and childish policies of the university administration and the education department.
The spokesperson further emphasized that educational institutions in Balochistan are recognized as centers of true knowledge and conscious learning. Therefore, the Baloch Students Organization remains committed to upholding its conscious ideals, protecting these educational institutions, and continuing its struggle against anti-education policies in the future.
