QUETTA, BALOCHISTAN: Kharan DC Reportedly Kidnapped, IED Strikes Passenger Vehicle in Kharan, Coal Mines Burned in Harnai, Youth Killed in Kech


According to the source, armed men had kidnapped Kharan Deputy Commissioner Munir Soomro on the Noshki-Kharan road. There has been no official confirmation from the authorities so far.

In a separate incident in Kharan, an improvised explosive device (IED) struck a passenger vehicle on Lijay Road, injuring 10 labourers, security sources said. Security forces reached the site, shifted the injured to hospital and launched further action in the area.

In the same district, police arrested a suspected thief during an exchange of fire in the Kalan Bypass Shamir water supply area. A pistol and other stolen items were recovered from him, while his accomplice escaped with a Kalashnikov.

In Harnai, unidentified armed men set fire to machinery installed in five coal mines in the Talib Lease area, police said. Three engines and two compressors, along with other valuable equipment, were destroyed.

The mines belong to contractors Abdul Khaliq, Hazrat, Muhammad Nabi, Sheikh Muhammad and Najeeb, who suffered losses of hundreds of thousands of rupees. A heavy police contingent arrived at the scene and began an investigation.

In Kech district, a young man was killed when unidentified motorcyclists opened fire in Asiya Abad in the Tump area.

Meanwhile, in Noshki, gunmen opened fire on a security forces checkpoint on the bypass road. No casualties were reported, according to police sources.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for these attacks.
