QUETTA, BALOCHISTAN: The Baloch Students Front (BSF) has strongly condemned what it described as an alarming rise in the unconstitutional detention and enforced disappearance of Baloch youth in recent days, calling it a grave violation of fundamental human rights and constitutional limits.
In a statement, the BSF’s central spokesperson said state oppression has tightened its grip on Baloch youth, students and political activists from all directions, alleging that they are being subjected to unconstitutional actions and brutality on the strength of force and weapons as a matter of daily routine. The spokesperson said that while some are silenced in the darkness of prisons, others are found as mutilated bodies dumped in forests and desolate areas actions the organization described as a serious violation of human rights charters and international law.
Addressing the enforced disappearance of University of Karachi students specifically, the spokesperson said that at approximately 2 a.m. on the night of August 4, 2026, security forces illegally raided an apartment in Karachi’s Gulshan-e-Iqbal area and, without any legal warrant or due process, subjected five Baloch students to violence before forcibly disappearing them , an act the BSF said violates Articles 10 and 14 of the Constitution, which it said guarantee that no individual can be arrested or unlawfully detained, nor their home or personal dignity violated, without due legal process or a stated charge.
The organization identified the disappeared students as two brothers, Azhar Baloch and Ghous Bakhsh Baloch, sons of Hayat Baloch, both University of Karachi students from Gwadar along with Shehzad Baloch, son of Shahid Baloch (Gwadar) Anees Baloch, son of Azeem Baloch (Noshki) and Waseem Baloch, son of Amin Baloch (Kalat) all students at the University of Karachi. The BSF said the students were physically tortured during the raid and their books were also confiscated, which it said made clear the state’s fear of “students, the pen, and the book.”
The statement added that Khalil Baloch, an MPhil scholar at the University of Karachi from Mashkay, Awaran, was forcibly disappeared on August 4, 2026, while Zubair Baloch, son of Noor Muhammad, a BS Chemistry graduate of Degree College Hub, was forcibly disappeared on July 30, 2026. Both remain missing.
The BSF’s central spokesperson concluded by demanding that the government, judiciary, and relevant institutions ensure constitutional protection for all Baloch students and stop targeting them with enforced disappearance. The organization said that if any charges exist against them, they should be presented before a court of law otherwise, it said, it reserves the right to protest strongly against what it called this oppression and brutality.
