QUETTA, BALOCHISTAN: The Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) has claimed responsibility for a series of attacks in five separate operations across Chagai, Zamuran, Musakhel, and Surab, claiming a combined total of 10 military personnel killed, including an army captain and two SSG commandos. The claims were made in a statement issued by BLF spokesperson Major Gwahram Baloch.
According to the statement, BLF fighters (Sarmachar) seized a temporary Excise Department checkpoint at Dhadar in Dalbandin, Chagai, on July 20, 2026, detaining three personnel and confiscating a 9mm pistol along with two government vehicles. The group said the checkpoint had been set up to extort money from local Baloch residents and travelers on the Quetta-Taftan highway under the guise of tax collection, describing it as a form of “economic exploitation.” The statement claimed the detained personnel were released after being warned to avoid participating in similar activities in future, with BLF stating it would show no leniency toward those it accuses of exploiting the local population.
In a separate claimed operation, the group said its fighters attacked the “main camp of the occupying Pakistani army” using heavy and automatic weapons on July 18, 2026, in Zamuri Teer Keck, Zamuran, saying the army suffered casualties and material losses, without providing specific figures.
The statement further claimed that BLF fighters attacked the main camp and outer security posts of the Frontier Corps in the Damb area of Surab on July 16, 2026, using rockets and automatic weapons. According to the group, six personnel including an army captain and two SSG commandos were killed at the outset in the camp’s outer perimeter, with a seventh soldier killed later by sniper fire after an exchange involving mortar shells fired from inside the camp. In total, the BLF claimed seven personnel were killed in this operation, including the captain and two SSG commandos, with several others wounded.
The group also claimed that at 6:40 a.m. on July 15, 2026, Pakistani forces, along with what the statement described as “local death squads operating under the guise of so-called peace forces,” attempted to surround a BLF patrol camp in the Kingeri area of Mashkel. According to the statement, the fighters struck first and took up defensive positions, leading to a four-hour clash in which three military personnel were killed and several soldiers and “death-squad” members wounded. The group claimed that after sustaining losses on the ground, Pakistani forces deployed gunship helicopters for roughly six hours of aerial bombardment and mortar fire on the site and surrounding hills, but that its fighters broke through the encirclement and withdrew safely, without casualties on their side.
In a further claimed incident, the statement said BLF fighters opened fire on and damaged oil tankers linked to the Saindak Project in the Padag Badeen area of Chagai on July 15, 2026.
