PANJGUR, BALOCHISTAN: Two young men from Panjgur district in Balochistan have reportedly been subjected to enforced disappearances by armed individuals affiliated with state-backed group (Death Squad), according to their families. The incidents occurred within days of each other at separate locations in the district, leaving both families in a state of deep distress and uncertainty.

According to his family, Mujahid was taken into custody late at night on June 7, 2026, from the CPEC Road in Sarsand, Panjgur. Family members allege that individuals associated with death squads apprehended him at the location. Since his disappearance, no information about his condition or whereabouts has been received by his family.

Nabil Rahim, a student at the Balochistan University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Khuzdar, was reportedly taken from Haji Yaseen Market in Panjgur on the evening of June 5, 2026. His family says he was detained by individuals they identified as personnel of death squads. His family has received no information about him since his disappearance.

“We do not know where our sons are or whether they are safe. We only demand that they be brought before the public, their well-being confirmed, and that they be presented before a court of law as required by legal procedure.” Families said.

Both families have described being in a state of severe mental anguish since their loved ones went missing. They say they have been left completely in the dark with no official acknowledgement of the detentions and no access to information about where the young men are being held.

The Families Are Demanding

  • The immediate surfacing of Mujahid and Nabil Rahim to confirm their safety
  • Full disclosure of their whereabouts by authorities
  • Their immediate presentation before a court of law in accordance with legal procedure

Pakistani security forces and government authorities have not issued any statement regarding the two cases at the time of this report. Enforced disappearances in Balochistan have been widely documented by human rights organisations, which have repeatedly called on Pakistani authorities to account for missing persons and end the practice.
