QUETTA, BALOCHISTAN: A large protest demonstration was held outside the Quetta Press Club by civil society organisations, condemning the acid attack on Dr. Mahnoor Nasir, a doctor at Civil Sandeman Hospital in Quetta. The protest drew a significant number of participants, including female lawyers, activists, and ordinary citizens who gathered to express their outrage over the horrific incident.
Demonstrators carried placards bearing slogans in support of Dr Mahnoor Nasir and against the attack. Chants calling for justice echoed throughout the demonstration as participants demanded swift and meaningful action from the authorities.
Protesters called for the strictest possible legal action against those responsible for the acid attack and all such violent acts against women. They also urged women across Balochistan to immediately inform their close family members and seek legal recourse whenever they face harassment so that perpetrators can be brought to justice before they commit further crimes.
“Those who commit such heinous acts against women must face the harshest punishment the law allows. No woman should suffer in silence, every incident of harassment must be reported immediately so that these elements can be stopped before they cause greater harm.” Protesters at Quetta Press Club
After registering their protest and raising slogans in support of their demands, participants dispersed peacefully. Civil society representatives stressed that violence against women, particularly against professional women such as doctors, is a matter of serious public concern and must be met with zero tolerance by the state and the justice system.
The acid attack on Dr. Mahnoor Nasir has drawn widespread condemnation across Balochistan.
