QUETTA: Former Secretary General of the Baloch National Movement, Rahim Baloch Advocate, shared a statement on the social media platform X on the anniversary of Martyr Agha Mahmood Khan Ahmedzai, stating that Agha Mahmood’s commitment to the Baloch national freedom movement was exemplary. He described him as a visionary young leader who remained far removed from personal showmanship and narcissism, and instead was a quiet yet firm-minded and practical leader.
He added that serious political circles held him in high regard. Due to these qualities, Agha Mahmood Jan was very popular among Baloch youth, while at the same time becoming a thorn in the eyes of the enemy. As a result, members of a state-backed armed group targeted and killed Agha Mahmood Jan Ahmedzai in a targeted attack on March 14, 2011.
Rahim Baloch said that his untimely martyrdom deprived the freedom movement of a rising and brilliant-minded leader. Although Agha Mahmood Jan is no longer among us today, his ideas, courage, and iron resolve remain a shining beacon of guidance for the movement.
