KHUZDAR: Two fighters of the Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) were martyred during a clash with “state-backed death squad” in the Gresha, according to a statement issued by the organization.

In a statement by the BLF spokesperson said that one of its units was on a routine patrol in the Gresha area on February 13, 2026, when at around 2:00 p.m. fighters were ambushed near the Nadgi locality by members of what the group described as a state-sponsored armed squad.

According to the statement, BLF fighters immediately took defensive positions and returned fire, leading to a prolonged clash lasting more than two hours. The organization claimed that during the fighting, another unit of its fighters launched an attack on the armed group from a different direction, forcing them into disarray and eventually retreat.

The group said the opposing side fled the area carrying their dead and wounded.

The BLF stated that during the initial phase of the clash one fighter was martyred and another critically wounded. Fellow fighters reportedly evacuated the wounded fighter and the body of the deceased to a safe location amid intense gunfire. However, the second wounded fighter later succumbed to his injuries.

The organization identified the martyred fighters as Sameer Baloch alias Meraan and Waheed Baloch alias Waleed, both residents of the Gresha area.

According to the statement, Sameer Baloch, son of Khaliq Dad and a resident of Badrang Gresha, joined the BLF’s mountain guerrilla front in March 2024. The organization described him as a hardworking and courageous fighter who had served on various fronts including Awaran, Kolwah, Jhao, Soorgar, Ornach, Naal, and Gresha.

The second fighter, Waheed Baloch, son of Khaliq Dad and a resident of Goni Gresha, joined the Balochistan Liberation Front as an urban guerrilla in 2024 and was later transferred to the mountain front in 2025. The statement said he continued guiding fellow fighters to safety during the clash despite being wounded.

In its statement, the Balochistan Liberation Front paid tribute to the two fighters, describing their deaths as a significant sacrifice, and reiterated its resolve to continue what it described as their mission.
