
QUETTA: A young man was killed in a firing incident in Kharan city, while 11 construction workers who were abducted last month in Khuzdar’s Moola have been released.
According to local sources, unidentified motorcyclists opened fire at Qila Chowk on the old Ghazi Road in Kharan during the evening hours at a Kashida Kari shop, killing a young man on the spot. The deceased was identified as Ismail Kubdani.
Sources said that Ismail Kubdani had previously been disappeared for nearly a year and was released only a few months ago.
After receiving information about the incident, police reached the scene and shifted the body to a hospital for necessary legal procedures. Authorities say an investigation into the killing has been initiated.
Meanwhile, in Khuzdar’s Moola, the 11 workers who were abducted during an attack on a construction camp last month have been released by the armed men.
According to police, on February 22, unidentified motorcyclists attacked a camp belonging to a private construction company working on a World Bank-funded water channel project. During the attack, the assailants forced 11 individuals into a double-cabin vehicle and took them to an unknown location.
Police identified the abducted individuals as Project Manager Gul Sher, Ghulam Sarwar, Abdul Malik Bugti, Maulana Bakhsh, Muhammad Irfan, Ikhtiar, and others. Police sources said that six of the workers were from Sindh while the remaining were local residents.
Earlier reports had stated that the attackers also targeted the local police station in Moola and patrolled the area for several hours before leaving.
