
Karachi: Kashif Baloch, a young man from the Kalri area of Lyari, was reportedly taken away by Pakistani security personnel around 2 a.m. on February 18, according to family sources. His whereabouts remain unknown.
Family members stated that Kashif Baloch had previously been detained on July 29 during a reported operation at his shop in the Empress Market area near Amma Tower in Saddar. He was released several months later. According to relatives, he was taken again from his home late last night.
Sources further reported that police and the Pakistan Rangers conducted operations in various parts of Lyari and detained at least 13 individuals. However, authorities have not yet issued an official statement regarding these actions or the reported detention of Kashif Baloch.
Human rights groups have called on the relevant authorities to clarify whether any charges exist against Kashif Baloch and to proceed in accordance with the law. Otherwise, they have demanded that he be safely released. Family members maintain that Kashif is a shopkeeper and was not involved in any unlawful activities.
