NUSHKI: In the city of Nushki, Balochistan, a curfew has been in place for several days as Pakistani forces continue their heavy operations. The forces have issued orders to keep all shops closed and restrict residents to their homes.
According to reports, several homes have been demolished, and the heavy presence of security personnel has caused harassment for local residents.
Former Senator of the Balochistan National Party (BNP), Sanaullah Baloch, condemned in strong terms the demolition of the guesthouse of the party’s central leader and Central Executive Committee member, Haji Bahadur Khan Mengal, as well as the harassment of the Hindu community in Nushki.
In his statement, he said that such actions by the Pakistani forces are not only against political traditions but also harm social harmony. He emphasized that the sacrifices and public services of Sardar Aziz Ahmed’s family are unforgettable, and their homes have always promoted tribal values and positive traditions of public welfare. The actions against the Hindu community’s homes, he added, are extremely regrettable and concerning.
The statement further noted that while the rulers, under Form 47, make lofty claims of public service, on the other hand, political workers, tribal elders, and ordinary citizens are increasingly subjected to unfair treatment. The party demanded that these incidents be taken seriously, that abuses carried out in the name of security be stopped, and that policies fostering hatred and mistrust be avoided.
Haji Bahadur Khan Mengal and his family’s democratic and political struggle is well-known. Discriminatory actions and harassment against the Hindu community must be immediately stopped.
Additionally, former Senator Yousuf Badini stated that demolishing the guesthouse of the late Sardar Aziz Ahmed Mengal’s descendants former District Nazim Haji Mir Bahadur Khan Mengal and current District Chairman Mir Muhammad Ali Khan Mengal, is a matter of serious concern.
He emphasized that Haji Mir Bahadur Khan Mengal is among Balochistan’s respected and people-friendly politicians, who have played a crucial role in resolving tribal disputes. Harassing him without cause is unacceptable.
