In a statement, the National Democratic Party (NDP) said that the tragedy that occurred in Nushki is one of the most heartbreaking incidents in the history of Balochistan, where dozens of people were severely burned in a fire. This incident has clearly exposed the gross administrative negligence of the current rulers, proving once again that the resource-rich region is being completely ignored in terms of basic public facilities.
The statement emphasized that the lack of basic infrastructure and machinery highlights that the revenue generated from Baloch land is not being spent on the people of Balochistan. Despite being located near major projects like Saindak and Reko Diq, the disaster in Nushki further reinforces the colonial relationship between the rulers and the ruled, clearly indicating that plundering Baloch resources is a deliberate policy of the current rulers, who have no concern for the oppressed Baloch population. Meanwhile, the civil bureaucracy, ministers, and other government machinery squander public tax money on personal luxuries and corruption, forcing the oppressed Baloch to live in misery and destitution.
The statement further added that Balochistan already lacks basic necessities such as healthcare, education, and employment, while severe barriers have been placed in the way of legal avenues to meet economic needs. Even today, 90% of the Baloch population relies on livestock, agriculture, and fishing for their livelihood. But due to state neglect, all three sectors are on the brink of collapse. A portion of the impoverished Baloch population, due to this imbalance, is forced into illegal means such as smuggling to feed their families. Even the major share of the income from such activities is extorted by personnel stationed at the numerous checkpoints in Balochistan.
The Baloch homeland is already facing severe human rights violations, and the continued plunder of Baloch resources clearly reflects a colonial policy.
The NDP strongly condemned the Nushki incident and demanded a judicial inquiry. They noted that similar tragic incidents have occurred in Hub, Lasbela, Kalat, and other parts of Balochistan in the past. Therefore, a serious strategy should be developed to prevent such tragedies, and legal action should be taken against those responsible.
