Senior Leaders and Founding Members Announce Collective Resignation From Free Balochistan Movement

Senior leaders and founding members of the Free Balochistan Movement (FBM), active in Balochistan and the diaspora, have announced their collective resignation from the party and their posts.

The group includes former heads of the party’s Foreign Affairs, External Organisational, Information and International departments, a member of its internal judiciary, and several Central Committee officials. They said they will continue their political role in the Baloch independence movement and will announce their next course of action soon.

Those named include Jamal Nasir Baloch (former head, Foreign Affairs Department), Obaidullah Baloch (former head, External Organisational Department), Haider KB Baloch (former head, International Department), Rasheed Baloch (former head, Information Department), Shams Baloch (judiciary member) and former National Council members Mumtaz Baloch and Lala Faheem Baloch. The signatories include founders who helped establish the party, draft its constitution, create its departments and lead its political programme for a decade.

The FBM was founded in 2016 under Hyrbyair Marri, with a stated aim of strengthening institutions within the Baloch independence movement and pursuing the freedom of a united Balochistan.

In a joint statement, the resigning members said they joined out of national commitment, drawn by Marri’s foreign policy, the drafting of documents such as the Balochistan Liberation Charter, clear positions on Iran and Pakistan and advocacy for strong institutions and a constitution for a future Baloch state.

They said the party has declined in recent years, citing repeated violations of the party constitution, damage to the independence of its internal judiciary and breach of the founding constitutional agreement. They said internal resistance failed to produce results, and that after sustained efforts at reform, senior members decided to seek a new path rather than become embroiled in conflict.

The statement also said changing conditions inside and outside the movement mean the former platform can no longer meet current challenges, leaving it stagnant.

The members said the passwords and accounts for the party’s email and websites were handed to the leadership some months ago, and that they will transfer all remaining credentials. They said they have no intention of seizing party property or assets.

They concluded by reaffirming their commitment to Baloch national freedom and said they will continue their political and intellectual struggle for a fully independent, united Balochistan.
