KALAT, BALOCHISTAN: In a statement, the Baloch Yakjehti Committee said the organization considers the orders directing residents of Kalat’s Shor Parood, Khalili, Khalakhti and Shoki areas to vacate their homes as a continuation of the ongoing state repression, collective punishment and genocidal policy against the Baloch people.
According to an order issued by the Assistant Commissioner of Kalat on September 20, 2026, the local population has been instructed to vacate their areas by September 28, 2026. Forcibly evicting an entire population from their ancestral land, homes and livelihoods, the statement said, is not merely an administrative measure but a direct assault on the local population’s life, identity, and presence on their own land.
The Committee said this is not simply a relocation order but a policy of imposing collective punishment and collective fear. Holding an entire population accountable for the actions of an individual or group constitutes collective punishment and when this practice takes the form of repeatedly displacing a population of a particular national identity, stripping it of its economic resources, and dismantling its social life, it becomes part of a broader process of genocide. Removing people from settlements where their homes, lands, livelihoods and generations of life are rooted, the statement added, does not simply render them homeless it gradually consigns them to death.
The Committee further stated that it unequivocally rejects subjecting the Baloch people to collective punishment on the basis of their national identity and rejects the dispersal of their communities through fear, forced displacement and deprivation. It said the forced displacement of local populations in Shadi Kaur, Mastung and other areas of Balochistan are links in the same chain of repression, in which ordinary people are being deprived of their homes, lands, livelihoods and normal way of life. The purpose of collective punishment, it said, is not merely to displace people but to instill fear, silence dissent, break collective resistance and impose submission on a subjugated population.
In conclusion, the Baloch Yakjehti Committee categorically rejected the forced eviction orders and demanded their immediate withdrawal, protection for the local population, and the right for residents to live freely, with dignity, and in safety in their homes and ancestral areas. The statement said the people of Balochistan cannot be silenced through collective punishment and that a policy of severing a nation from its land, identity, and collective life cannot be allowed to become the norm.
