QUETTA, BALOCHISTAN: Recovery of Ghulam Haider Kurd, a Positive Step, Other Missing Persons Must Also Be Found, Says VBMP Chairman
Nasrullah Baloch, chairman of the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP), has described the recovery of Haider Kurd, who was forcibly disappeared from Quetta on March 12, as a positive development. He said he hopes all other missing persons will also be recovered soon, ending the long suffering and wait for their families.
Baloch said the organization had submitted Kurd’s case to the Commission of Inquiry on Enforced Disappearances and to the government, after which the commission began formal legal proceedings. He said Kurd’s recovery highlights the importance of taking missing persons’ cases seriously and of state institutions fulfilling their legal responsibilities.
Baloch demanded that effective steps be taken to recover all missing persons. He said that if any individual faces allegations, he should be produced before a court and given a transparent legal process in accordance with the law.
