QUETTA, BALOCHISAN: Five people, including two teenagers, have reportedly been forcibly disappeared from Gwadar, Quetta, and Surab in Balochistan, while three previously disappeared persons from Panjgur have been released, according to local sources and the families.
According to the source, Arif, son of Yaseen and a resident of Dasht Sholeeg in Kech, was reportedly detained while working as a labourer in the Paleri area of Gwadar. Family sources said plainclothes personnel, alleged to belong to Pakistani intelligence agencies, took him away while he was in Paleri for work. The family said it has received no information about him since, and authorities have not officially acknowledged his detention.
Separately, the disappearance of 18-year-old student Naseer Baloch came to light several months after he was detained in Quetta. According to sources, Naseer, son of Mehrab Khan and a resident of Sariab Road, was picked up by personnel from the Inter-Services Intelligence and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) around 2:00am on March 27, 2026. He has been missing since.
In another case, 15-year-old Aziz Baloch, son of Mohammad Sultan and a resident of Killi Hussainabad near Awami Pump on Sariab Road, Quetta, was detained by ISI and CTD personnel around 12:30am on July 23 and subsequently disappeared. Aziz, who works as a rickshaw driver, has reportedly been forcibly disappeared for a second time.
Two further cases were reported from Surab, where Khalil Ahmed, son of Mohammad Noor, and Gul Mohammad, son of Mohammad Jan, were detained by FC and military personnel from their home around 5:00pm on July 12. Both are labourers and were later moved to an undisclosed location, sources said.
Amid these fresh disappearances, three men who had been forcibly disappeared from Panjgur on July 13 were released ten days later. They were identified as Salman Baloch, son of Mohammad Anwar; Zubair, son of Ismail; and Nabeel Baloch, son of Nazeer. Salman and Zubair were released in Quetta on July 23; details of Nabeel’s release, including its location, were not immediately available.
