KHARAN/NOSHKI: Baloch separatist fighters attacked a Pakistani security forces checkpost in the Kharan district of Balochistan, while unidentified gunmen separately opened fire on commercial vehicles a trailer truck and a water tanker in the Noshki.
According to source, the Wadh checkpost, situated on Gawash Road in Kharan, was targeted by armed fighters belonging to a Baloch separatist organisation, sources said. Witnesses reported hearing at least three powerful explosions followed by sustained gunfire from the direction of the checkpost. Security forces were present at the site at the time of the attack.
No casualties or fatalities have been confirmed so far. No separatist group has formally claimed responsibility for the Kharan attack at the time of publication, though armed activity in the district has been attributed to Baloch separatist factions in previous incidents.
In a separate incident in the Ahmadwal area of Noshki district, unidentified gunmen opened fire on a trailer truck and a water tanker (bowser), bursting all tyres on both vehicles. The drivers escaped unharmed. The motive behind the attack on the commercial vehicles is unclear, and no group has claimed responsibility.
Attacks on commercial vehicles, particularly fuel tankers and supply trucks, have been a recurring tactic used by Baloch separatist groups to disrupt supply chains and economic activity in Balochistan.
