BYC Leader Syed Bibi Released After Two Months in Detention in Kech

Sayeda BIBI

KECH, BALOCHISTAN: Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) leader Syed Bibi has been released after spending two months in detention.

The BYC said Syed Bibi was initially detained by the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) during a raid on her home on July 1, 2026. According to the organisation, she was released the following day, July 2, following protests in Turbat against the life sentences handed to Dr Mahrang Baloch and Shah Sibghatullah.

However, the BYC said she was detained again on July 3, just one day after her release and was held for two months under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (3MPO) law. She was freed on August 31, 2026.

In a statement, the BYC said that during her detention, Syed Bibi witnessed the hardships faced by numerous Baloch prisoners and gained first-hand insight into injustices affecting detainees.

The experience, the BYC said, further strengthened her commitment to advocating for human rights and justice and deepened her understanding of the human impact of detention and imprisonment.
