QUETTA: The Baloch Republican Army (BRA) has claimed responsibility for a series of attacks targeting gas infrastructure and Pakistani security forces in Dera Bugti, as military operations in the district reportedly entered a second day.
In a statement issued to the media, Sarbaz Baloch, spokesperson for the Baloch Republican Army, said that the Pakistani military operation against civilians in Dera Bugti continued on Monday, with heavy shelling reportedly targeting residential areas. He added that during the operation, BRA fighters carried out coordinated attacks on military personnel and state installations across multiple parts of the district.
According to the statement, a 36-inch gas pipeline carrying gas from Sui to Karachi was blown up late Monday night at Gopat, causing a fire and suspending gas supply through the line. Sarbaz Baloch said FC personnel deployed at the site were later ambushed, leaving three dead and two injured.
He further claimed that another attack targeted an FC patrol near Mandar Colony on Ring Road in Sui, where five personnel were killed and two others seriously wounded after coming under fire from automatic weapons.
The statement also said that a separate blast struck a 16-inch gas pipeline in Tota Colony, Sui city. The pipeline reportedly connects Well No. 72 to the processing plant, and the explosion disrupted gas supply from the well.
The BRA spokesperson added that two personnel from the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) were detained after BRA fighters set up a blockade on the Sui–Jhat Pat Road earlier in the day. He identified them as Murad Ali, son of Muhammad Bakhsh, and Parvez, son of Muhammad Saleh, and said both belonged to the Gorani Takkar of the Hezhwani branch of the Bugti tribe.
According to Sarbaz Baloch, an FC convoy later moved toward the area in an effort to recover the detained personnel but was ambushed near Kachi Pul on the Sui–Jhat Pat Road. He claimed the attack caused significant casualties among the convoy, with multiple personnel killed and injured.
Earlier on Saturday, the armed group claimed responsibility for ambush attacks in the Lanju and Sughari areas of Sui tehsil in Dera Bugti, saying six FC personnel were killed and several others wounded during an ongoing military operation. In a statement, it alleged that Pakistani Army, Frontier Corps, and death squad operatives had launched a large-scale operation in the area, during which civilians were reportedly subjected to aerial bombardment and drone strikes.
The statement concluded by saying that BRA operations against Pakistani military actions and what it described as ISI extortion in Balochistan would continue.
