DERA BUGTI, BALOCHISTAN: The Baloch Republican Army (BRA) has claimed that six Frontier Corps (FC) personnel were killed and several others wounded in ambush attacks in the Lanju and Sughari areas of Sui tehsil in Dera Bugti, as a large-scale military operation was reportedly launched in the region.
In a statement issued to the media, BRA spokesperson Sarbaz Baloch said that Pakistani Army, Frontier Corps and what the group describes as “death squad” operatives launched a wide military operation in the Lanju and Sughari areas adjacent to Sui tehsil since yesterday. The spokesperson said that civilian populations in the area have been subjected to aerial bombardment, with several homes in Sughari targeted via quadcopter drones, resulting in women and children sustaining injuries.
The BRA said its fighters responded to the military operation by carrying out ambush attacks at multiple locations in the areas, killing six FC personnel and wounding several others. Two operatives of what the group describes as “death squads” were also reported wounded in the clashes.
In addition, the group claimed responsibility for destroying two 26-inch diameter gas pipelines in Adil Khan Colony in Sui through a controlled explosion.
He Further said that, a separate grenade attack was also carried out on an FC checkpoint near the Hindu neighborhood in Bugti Colony, Sui, wounding one personnel.
Sarbaz Baloch said that Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) has formed multiple armed groups in Dera Bugti that are involved in extortion and highway robbery, with weapons, ammunition and operational orders reportedly provided directly by local ISI officers.
The group warned that it would take full-scale action against such groups and those backing them.
