MASTUNG, BALOCHISTAN: Two separate incidents struck Mastung district on Friday, as an explosion damaged a key bridge on the Quetta-Taftan highway while mineral-carrying vehicles were set ablaze in the Kanak area, further disrupting movement along one of Balochistan’s most critical routes.
In the first incident, explosives planted beneath a bridge at the Jadeedabad area detonated, causing structural damage and forcing authorities to suspend all traffic on the highway. Police officials stated the blast was heard as far as 20 kilometres away in Mastung city. Security forces cordoned off the area and launched a clearance operation immediately following the explosion.
In a separate but related incident, vehicles transporting minerals were set on fire in Mastung’s Kanak area. Further details on the number of vehicles targeted are being gathered.
No casualties or injuries were reported in either incident. No group has claimed responsibility for the attacks.
