QUETTA, BALOCHISTAN: The protest camp established by Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) outside Quetta Press Club continued for the 6,158th consecutive day on Thursday, marking one of the longest running peaceful demonstrations in Pakistan’s history against the issue of enforced disappearances.

Addressing the ongoing sit-in, VBMP Executive Committee member Niyaz Muhammad reaffirmed the organization’s unwavering commitment to its peaceful struggle, stating that their fundamental goal remains the resolution of enforced disappearances in accordance with Pakistan’s constitution and laws, and the safe recovery of all missing persons.

Enforced disappearances are not only a grave violation of human rights but also a source of continuous psychological and social suffering for the affected families,” Niyaz Muhammad said.

The VBMP leader addressed his demands directly to the government, judiciary and all relevant state institutions, urging them to take the cases of missing persons seriously, ensure the supremacy of law and deliver justice to the families who have been waiting for years.

He called on authorities to move beyond procedural delays and take concrete, meaningful action to address one of Balochistan’s most pressing and long-standing humanitarian crises.

VBMP made it unequivocally clear that their constitutional and democratic struggle will continue peacefully until every missing person is safely recovered and enforced disappearances are completely and permanently eliminated.

“We will not stop,” the organization declared. “Our protest will go on for as long as it takes.”
