
QUETTA: The long-running protest movement against enforced disappearances in Balochistan has reached a significant milestone, as the protest camp organized by the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) outside the Quetta Press Club has now completed 6,117 days.
The camp, considered one of the longest-running peaceful protests in the world, continues to serve as a gathering point for the families of missing persons who are demanding the safe recovery of their loved ones.
On this occasion, the organization’s chairman, Nasrullah Baloch, stated that the protest camp has been ongoing for several years without interruption. He said that families of the disappeared have been protesting continuously in hopes of locating their missing relatives.
According to him, the purpose of this prolonged struggle is to highlight the serious issue of enforced disappearances and to press the relevant authorities to take effective action.
Reiterating their demands, he called for, an immediate end to enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killing, the recovery of all missing persons and ensuring that individuals facing allegations are produced before courts and given the right to legal defense
Nasrullah Baloch further emphasized that the protest is not merely a sit-in, but a continuous struggle for human rights, justice, and the supremacy of the constitution. He added that the camp reflects the grief, hope, and resilience of families who have been waiting for years for the return of their loved ones.
