Kohlu: Chaos and mismanagement were reported during the distribution of the Ramadan relief package in Kohlu, leaving several people, including police personnel, injured and many deserving families deprived of rations.
According to local sources, the Ramadan package provided by Mir Sarfraz Bugti, the Chief Minister of Balochistan, was being distributed at multiple locations in the district when severe disorder and unrest broke out.
The main distribution point at Kohlu Stadium witnessed significant overcrowding, while similar situations were reported in areas including Garsani, Lassi Zai, Tambo, and Fazil Cheel. Witnesses said that arguments between beneficiaries and organizers quickly escalated, leading to pushing, shoving, and a stampede-like situation as people rushed to collect rations.
During the chaos, several individuals reportedly grabbed ration bags directly from the distribution staff, further worsening the situation. As a result, many genuine beneficiaries faced difficulties in receiving their allocated packages.
Local residents said that due to the disorder, several families listed by the administration including widows, persons with disabilities, and orphaned children were unable to receive the Ramadan assistance.
Affected individuals complained that poor planning and weak arrangements deprived deserving people of aid, while some unrelated individuals managed to take the ration packages.
The victims have appealed to Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, Deputy Commissioner Kohlu Azim Dummar, and FC Commandant Colonel Farooq Ashraf to review the situation. They demanded that the list of beneficiaries be revised and that the Ramadan relief package be redistributed to ensure that genuine deserving families receive the assistance.
