Panjgur: The body of a young man who was reportedly forcibly disappeared a day earlier has been recovered in the Bonistan area of Panjgur.
According to Local source, the deceased has been identified as Zohaib Ahmed, son of Muhammad Azum, a graduate student and part-time shopkeeper. Zohaib had arrived at the Municipal Committee Office in the Washbood area for an interview when the incident occurred.
Witnesses reported that a white Toyota Corolla carrying masked armed men entered the municipal office premises, where the assailants opened fire, injuring a gatekeeper identified as Muhammad Alam. Zohaib was reportedly dragged from the office, beaten, and taken away by the armed men on 13 January 2026.
On 14 January 2026, Zohaib Ahmed’s body was recovered from the Bonistan area. Sources said the body bore multiple bullet wounds and visible signs of torture.
Local sources said the armed group involved is locally referred to as a “death squad,” which they said operates under the backing of Pakistani security forces. Residents claim that such groups have been involved in enforced disappearances, targeted killings, and the harassment of political activists and civilians in Balochistan.
