Quetta: The Baloch Students Organization (Azad) has paid tribute to veteran Baloch leader and human rights activist Mama Qadeer Baloch, describing him as a lasting symbol of continuous struggle within the Baloch national movement.
In a statement issued by its spokesperson, BSO-Azad said that Mama Qadeer Baloch will always be remembered for his invaluable sacrifices, selfless revolutionary struggle, and steadfast commitment to the Baloch cause even in old age. The organization stated that his courage, resilience, and sense of responsibility will be remembered in golden words in Baloch national history.
The statement highlighted that Mama Qadeer dedicated sixteen years of his life to the struggle for the recovery of forcibly disappeared Baloch individuals. Through his historic long march, he not only challenged oppressive forces but also drew global attention to the issue of enforced disappearances in Balochistan, proving that the Baloch nation would never abandon the struggle for the recovery of its missing sons.
BSO-Azad recalled that despite continuous harassment, death threats, and intimidation by state institutions, Mama Qadeer never retreated from his struggle. Even after carrying the body of his son Jalil Reki, who was a victim of enforced disappearance, on his shoulders, his resolve only grew stronger, and he continued his activism with greater courage and determination.
The statement further noted that whether it was the hardships of long marches on difficult terrain or sitting in protest camps during the freezing cold of Quetta, Mama Qadeer stood like a shield for the Baloch nation and became the organized and collective voice of the forcibly disappeared.
BSO-Azad emphasized that Mama Qadeer embraced the philosophy of continuous struggle with humility and bravery, earning the title of “Mama” from the Baloch people. By dedicating his life to the nation instead of seeking comfort or peace in old age, he proved that when a homeland is occupied, life’s true purpose lies in resistance and struggle.
The organization concluded that Mama Qadeer Baloch’s struggle and determination will remain a guiding light for the Baloch nation, reminding future generations that honesty, courage, and unwavering resistance are essential to achieving freedom.
