Quetta: The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) has denounced the ongoing jail-trial of its detained leaders as an attempt to give a legal veneer to political vengeance.
Today, arguments were heard on bail applications at Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) 1 in the cases against BYC leaders Dr. Mahrang Baloch, Beberg Baloch, Shah Ji Baloch, Gulzadi Baloch, and Beebow Baloch. During the hearing lawyers presented arguments on nine separate FIRs (First Information Reports). The court took note of key points and reserved its decision until 6 November.
According to the BYC, the leaders have been imprisoned for the past seven months. They say the detainees were held illegally under the three-month 3MPO detention provision for the first three months and have since remained in custody on a series of fabricated charges and manufactured FIRs. The organization calls this not only a violation of basic human rights but also a clear case of political retribution and state repression.
The BYC further alleges that routine political matters are being prosecuted in the Anti-Terrorism Court in order to bypass ordinary legal safeguards. Such measures, the group says, aim to silence dissenting political voices and crush the democratic struggle of the Baloch people through force and intimidation.
The BYC also accused the authorities of using delaying tactics in the cases by seeking repeated remands, citing judicial absences and now conducting trials inside the prison all intended to needlessly prolong the proceedings.
The Baloch Yakjehti Committee reiterated its long-standing commitment to raising its voice against all forms of oppression, injustice, and enforced disappearances. It said it will continue to highlight serious human-rights violations in Balochistan before the international community and will resist repression through democratic and political means, exposing the state’s actions as unconstitutional.
