Sorab: In Balochistan’s Sorab district, armed men reportedly set up a blockade and conducted checks for nearly an hour along the Quetta–Karachi Highway at Mal Shahurai, during which a Balochistan Constabulary (BC) officer was killed.
According to sources, the armed men took control of a Levies checkpoint and seized weapons from police personnel arriving from Quetta.
During the exchange of fire, Havaldar Muhammad Jan, son of Muhammad Yousuf, was killed. The deceased officer, aged 47, was a resident of Khuzdaar.
Sources said that as the armed men were confiscating weapons from BC personnel, one of the officers opened fire on them, prompting retaliatory fire that resulted in his death.
Officials said the incident occurred while constabulary personnel were returning to Khuzdar from Kalat after completing their duty. The assailants fled the scene following the attack.
