Shikarpur: The Jaffar Express was targeted in a bomb blast in the Shikarpur district of Sindh on Sunday.
According to police officials, the explosion occurred near the village of Sultan Kot, on the railway track, causing four carriages of the Rawalpindi-to-Quetta-bound Jaffar Express to derail.
They added that the blast took place as the train was passing through the Sultan Kot station area, disrupting rail traffic in the region.
The Baloch Republican Guards (BRG), an armed Baloch separatist group, has claimed responsibility for the attack.
In a statement issued by BRG spokesperson Dostain Baloch, the group said its fighters targeted the train because it was carrying personnel of the “occupying Pakistani army.” The spokesperson claimed that several soldiers were killed and injured in the explosion.
Dostain Baloch said the BRG takes full responsibility for the attack and warned that such operations would continue “until the freedom of Balochistan.”
