BYC Calls for Immediate End to Pakistani Forces’ Violence in Kashmir

QUETTA: The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) on Friday strongly condemned ongoing state repression and violent actions by Pakistani security forces in Pakistan-administered Jammu and Kashmir, where peaceful protesters organized by the Joint Awami Action Committee were reportedly subjected to a crackdown.

In a statement, BYC described the demonstrations in Kashmir as a grassroots movement advocating for civil and political rights, legislative reforms and free access to education, healthcare and basic services.

According to the spokesperson, the Pakistani state opted for force instead of dialogue, resulting in multiple fatalities and dozens of injuries. The region has been under a complete shutdown for the past five days, highlighting the state’s intransigence and refusal to address public grievances.

The statement also noted that this situation exposes Pakistan’s double standards: while the government publicly speaks of Kashmiri rights, in practice, it uses force to suppress basic freedoms and silence dissent.

BYC reaffirmed its solidarity with the Kashmiri people and demanded an immediate end to state oppression. The committee also called on national and international human rights organizations to intervene urgently to protect lives and freedoms in Kashmir, emphasizing that the state must be held accountable and that the democratic aspirations of the Kashmiri people be recognized without delay.
