The protest sit-in of Baloch families in Islamabad, organized by the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), has continued for 45 consecutive days, demanding the release of detained BYC leaders and an end to enforced disappearances. Despite harsh weather, government indifference and silence from those in power, women, children and the elderly remain steadfast in their call for justice.
On this occasion, the family of missing Saeed Ahmed Baloch organized a peaceful walk in Islamabad to mark 12 years since his enforced disappearance. Family members said they have been waiting for his return for over a decade, but state institutions have yet to provide any answers. During the walk, they demanded an end to enforced disappearances and the restoration of human rights.
However, Islamabad police attempted to stop the peaceful walk and reportedly harassed participants. The family stressed that they will continue to raise their voices through peaceful and constitutional means for the recovery of their loved ones.
Protesters once again appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan, the Prime Minister, and the Interior Minister to immediately present the missing persons in courts and provide justice to Baloch families.
