The spokesperson of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) said in a statement that three days ago, Frontier Corps (FC) personnel stopped a passenger van traveling from Hub Chowki to Khuzdar at Pir Umar. Women and children were forcibly offloaded from the vehicle, while the male passengers were taken away along with the van by state Forces. The abandoned women reportedly waited for hours on the roadside before receiving help from passersby to reach Khuzdar city.
The following individuals were identified as victims of enforced disappearance:
- Siraj son of Bashir Ahmed
- Imran son of Bashir Ahmed
- Zubair son of Mumtaz Ahmed
- Imtiaz son of Mumtaz Ahmed
The spokesperson said that the next day, these women staged a protest at Zawa in Khuzdar, demanding the recovery of their loved ones. However, FC personnel once again arrived at the site and opened indiscriminate fire. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
For two days, the families staged a sit-in on the road, demanding the release of the disappeared men, but instead of addressing their demands, the state further harassed the women.
The statement added that, apart from Quetta, internet access in almost all districts of Balochistan remains shut down, while Khuzdar has been under a complete blackout for the past six months, preventing information about such incidents from reaching outside.
According to the BYC, these incidents show that the Pakistani state has turned Balochistan into a large prison, where enforced disappearances and daily human rights violations have become routine, while internet shutdowns are used to conceal cases of Baloch genocide.
The BYC appealed to the Baloch people not to remain silent against enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings, saying that silence only strengthens the oppressive state to commit further atrocities.
