Karachi: The protest camp outside Karachi Press Club demanding the recovery of 25-year-old missing student Zahid Ali Baloch from Liyari’s Kalri entered its sixth day on Sunday. Zahid’s father, Abdul Hameed Baloch, who suffers from liver disease and his mother, who has long-term health issues, continue to protest under the scorching sun without any tent.
Abdul Hameed said Zahid worked day and night to support the family’s expenses and cover his parents’ medical treatment. “In this extreme heat, we are sitting here in the hope that the state institutions may show mercy and return our son,” he said.
He added that every citizen has the right to live freely, but this right has been taken away from them. The family appealed to human rights organizations, the higher judiciary, the media and all humanitarian groups to play their role in ensuring Zahid’s recovery.
It should be noted that Zahid Ali Baloch was taken into custody by Pakistani security personnel on July 17, 2025 and has been missing since then. His family has been protesting ever since.
