Quetta — Mahjabeen, the mother of forcibly disappeared Aimal Baloch, held an emotional press conference at the protest camp for missing persons, accompanied by her husband Aurangzeb, daughter Fatima, and Chairman of Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP), Nasrullah Baloch. She demanded the immediate release of her son and justice for the atrocities inflicted on her family.
“Today, I stand before you not as a speaker or activist, but as a mother carrying a pain so deep that words cannot capture it,” said Mahjabeen. “My son, Aimal — a regular student was abducted on the night of May 23 by state forces from our home.”
She recounted the horrifying night: “Armed men in plain clothes stormed our home without any warrant or legal notice. They brought only fear, guns, and brutality. They took my son from right in front of me. When we resisted and asked questions, we were pushed, abused, and our mobile phones were snatched to silence us.”
Speaking about her daughter, she said: “My daughter Fatima Baloch is a courageous and aware young girl who has consistently raised her voice for the recovery of Baloch missing persons. She has participated in protests, sit-ins, and rallies all within the framework of the constitution. Is this the punishment for her courage? To take away her brother?”
Mahjabeen stressed that peaceful political activism is a fundamental right of every citizen. “No one can take this right from us, nor will we surrender it in the face of fear or intimidation.”
She posed a heartfelt question: “Where should we go? Whose doors should we knock on?”
Mahjabeen issued the following demands to the state and powerful institutions:
- Her son Aimal should be recovered immediately. If he is accused of any wrongdoing, he should be produced before a court.
- Those who raided their home and violated their privacy must be held accountable before the law.
- The safety and protection of Fatima and her other children must be ensured, as they are being punished merely for speaking the truth.
- The practice of enforced disappearances must be brought to an end, and justice must be served to the affected families.
Concluding her statement, Mahjabeen said: “I am a mother, and like every mother, my son is the light of my eyes. I will not remain silent until he is returned to me. I know I am not alone every mother who lives for her children and every person who believes in humanity stands with me. I hope the people of Balochistan and all human rights defenders will support us in this struggle.”
Meanwhile, VBMP Chairman Nasrullah Baloch strongly condemned the enforced disappearance of Aimal by state forces. He called on the provincial government to take urgent notice of Aimal’s illegal abduction and the mistreatment of his parents. He urged the government to use its constitutional powers to bring the perpetrators to justice and ensure the safe recovery of 17-year-old Aimal Baloch, ending the suffering of his family.
