The spokesperson of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) has categorically rejected the baseless and defamatory allegations made during today’s press conference by the spokesperson of the Pakistan Army. The military accused the organization and its leader, Dr. Mahrang Baloch, of being involved in terrorism and foreign-backed activities. These allegations, the spokesperson said, are not only entirely false but appear to be a deliberate attempt to divert attention from the grave human rights violations occurring in Balochistan.
He stated that BYC is a peaceful political and human rights organization that advocates for the democratic and civil rights of the Baloch people through nonviolent means. Dr. Mahrang Baloch is a respected human rights activist whose record of peaceful struggle is well known to the world. Both she and the BYC reject all forms of violence and believe in lawful and democratic means of resistance.
The spokesperson further noted that this is not the first time the state has tried to defame the peaceful voices of the Baloch people. Similar accusations have been made in the past without ever providing evidence, and they have failed to hold up under legal scrutiny or public opinion. The current accusations are also being made without any credible proof, reflecting a dangerous pattern of harassment and character assassination by the state to suppress political dissent.
He said the military spokesperson’s statements are not only false but also an unspoken acknowledgment of BYC’s growing public support and the widespread acceptance of its peaceful protests. Once again, the state has fabricated a false narrative to divert attention from crimes such as enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, and other human rights violations in Balochistan.
“We demand that the Government of Pakistan and its institutions immediately stop this false propaganda and take genuine, practical steps to end human rights violations in Balochistan,” the spokesperson said. “We invite all independent and impartial international bodies to investigate the allegations against BYC and its leadership. If there is any evidence, we are ready to be held accountable under international law. However, if the accusations are proven false, then the Pakistan Army should also be held accountable under the same international legal frameworks, such as the Geneva Conventions and global human rights protocols.”
The statement also highlighted that Dr. Mahrang Baloch and other BYC leaders have been unlawfully detained for the past two months under repressive laws like the Public Order Ordinance (3 MPO). Despite court hearings, the state has failed to provide any legal justification or evidence for these arrests. Instead, state institutions have launched a systematic media campaign to spread false accusations and propaganda.
“We once again clearly state that BYC condemns all forms of violence whether in Balochistan or anywhere else in the world. For instance, recent reports from Khuzdar mentioned the deaths of children in an alleged armed incident. We are deeply concerned about these reports, and if it is confirmed that children were indeed killed, we strongly condemn it in the harshest possible terms. The killing of children or any innocent person is never justifiable.”
The killing of innocent civilians, especially children, is not only inhumane but also a serious violation of international law.
“Our peaceful resistance and commitment to justice and the sanctity of human life are not bound by geography or identity. Targeting human rights defenders by state institutions only strengthens our resolve.”
The statement concluded with a call to the international community, the United Nations, global human rights organizations, and diplomatic missions to take serious notice of the growing trend of false and dangerous narratives in Pakistan. “These accusations are not only a threat to an individual but represent a systematic attack on peaceful protest, freedom of expression, and the democratic right to dissent. The organization will never remain silent. Our commitment to justice, peace, and human dignity will remain unwavering.”
