According to the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), Baloch activist Beebow Baloch was subjected to severe torture by police and intelligence officials in Pishin Jail last night, leaving her in a critical condition. She was briefly shifted to Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Quetta without receiving any medical treatment and was later transferred back to Hudda Jail in the same condition.
The BYC claims that Beebow’s health has deteriorated significantly due to continuous hunger strike and repeated instances of torture. She had been on a hunger strike while in Pishin Jail, protesting her mistreatment and forced transfer. The hunger strike was called off following her transfer back to Hudda Jail, but her health remains in a critical state.
It is important to note that on the night of April 24, officials from Quetta Police and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) allegedly entered the jail unlawfully and violently assaulted Dr. Mahrang Baloch, Beebow Baloch, and Gulzadi Baloch. During the incident, Beebow Baloch was forcibly disappeared from Hudda Jail and remained missing for 24 hours before being relocated to Pishin Jail, where surveillance cameras were reportedly installed even inside her place and washroom.
The Baloch Yakjehti Committee has voiced serious concerns about Beebow Baloch’s health and safety and has appealed to the United Nations to intervene for the protection and release of Baloch political prisoners. The organization emphasizes that the ongoing incidents of torture inside prisons have put the lives of their leaders at serious risk.
