Ziarat: CTD Claims to Have Killed 7 in Armed Clash

The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of Balochistan has claimed to have killed seven individuals during a joint operation with other security forces in the Chotair area of Ziarat district. According to CTD officials, the operation was carried out based on intelligence reports, and the exchange of fire resulted in the deaths of the alleged militants.

The CTD alleges that the deceased were affiliated with the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), an outlawed separatist organization. Authorities also stated that a large cache of weapons and ammunition was recovered from the site following the encounter.

According to CTD statements, the individuals killed were allegedly involved in various activities that posed serious threats to law and order in the region.

This incident comes on the heels of a similar operation on April 19 in the Duki district of Balochistan, where CTD claimed to have killed five individuals. However, it was later revealed that the slain individuals, including Ijaz and Zaid sons of Abid Khan had been previously reported as forcibly disappeared. They were allegedly detained by Pakistani forces from Saryab, Quetta, on April 12, 2025.

Another case involves Muhammad Deen Marri, who was reportedly arrested nearly four months ago and had remained missing since then.

In a separate recent incident, CTD also claimed to have killed two individuals during an alleged encounter in the Darakhshan area of Quetta.

Human rights groups have raised serious concerns over these operations, accusing the CTD of continuing a disturbing pattern of killing forcibly disappeared persons in staged encounters. Critics argue that these incidents highlight a persistent disregard for legal processes and human rights norms.
